Trump’s War on Iran

The US and Israel have launched joint attacks on military and nuclear facilities in Iran. Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), said in a March 3 video update on X that the U.S. military has deployed over 50,000 troops, 200 fighter jets, two aircraft carriers, and bombers as part of Operation Epic Fury against Iran, with more capabilities “on the way.”

The war in Iran is a direct violation of Trump’s campaign promises not to get involved in  wars, but to end them.

Historically it is also a violation of international law, which is based on the 400-year-old Treaty (or Peace) of Westphalia. International law is based on the concepts outlined in this treaty, signed on October 24, 1648. The key elements of the treaty are as follows:

· It recognized the principle of cuius regio, eius religio (“whose realm, his religion”). Rulers could determine the official religion of their territories.

· It guaranteed private religious freedom and the right of emigration for religious minorities.

· And most importantly, it established the principle of territorial integrity – that a country has exclusive authority over its territory and domestic affairs, with non-interference from external powers (a foundational idea in modern international relations).

Caveat: The principle of inviolable territorial borders has been debated by scholars. A nation that murders its own citizens is liable to attack on humanitarian grounds. The principle of inviolable borders also breaks down when one nation attacks another nation. One can argue that Iran was attacked unilaterally by the US, but Iran has also acted to destabilize other Arab nations.

What is most surprising to me is the Arab response. In the past, if Israel or the US attacked another Arab nation, the Arab street would erupt with anger and protests, and Arab nations would undertake hostilities against the offenders.

This time, however, the Arab responses have been against Iran! (At least so far. If the war expands that will probably change.)

How can this be when the purpose of Israel’s attack is supposedly the creation of Greater Israel, an aggressive expansion of Israel into Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Egyptian territory?

No, there is something else going on here.

Arab leaders have largely condemned Iran’s retaliatory strikes on Gulf states following the US-Israeli attacks on Iran, expressing solidarity with affected countries and calling for de-escalation while reserving the right to respond.

· The French newspaper Le Monde reports that Saudi Arabia: Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman stated that Saudi Arabia stands ready “to place all its capabilities at their disposal” in support of Gulf states targeted by Iran.

· The New Arab outlet wrote that the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the “blatant Iranian aggression and the flagrant violation of the sovereignty” of UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan, affirming full solidarity.

· President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates: coordinated with Saudi Arabia to form a united front against Iran, marking their first conversation since December 2025 amid strained relations.

· Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar spoke with President Trump, calling for containing the “dangerous escalation” in the Middle East. Considering that many of the Hamas leaders live in Qatar, supported by the Sheik,  this is a very calm and measured response.

· Joint Arab Response: Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Qatar issued unified statements condemning Iran’s attacks as a “flagrant violation of sovereignty” and reserving the right to respond.

According to Grok, multiple Arab nations, including Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, were reported as furious and condemning Iran’s actions in a joint statement.

And in Los Angeles, thousands of people filled the streets, spontaneously celebrating the death of Ayatollah Khamenei. Watch here:

I’m shocked, frankly. No angry paid protesters screaming hatred against the US?

If you are going to start a war against Iran you need at least some public support. What better support is there than expatriate Iranian nationals?

Why are Arab nations not vilifying Israel and the US for their blatant violation of international law?

My guess is that Trump cleared the attack on Iran in previous meetings with Arab leaders.

I asked Grok how many Arab leaders Trump has met with since the start of his second term in January 2025.

This list is based on White House readouts, official statements, and major news coverage.

The US has been negotiating with Iran on its nuclear weapons for a long time. Up until the start of the war negotiations were ongoing. I won’t comment about the arrogant idea that Israel can have nukes but Iran cannot. Both countries are rogue states and are run by religious fanatics. Nevertheless, Trump seems to have coordinated action with Israel against Iran with pretty much full agreement of the other Arab states in the region. This indicates to me that Iran is anathema in the Arab world.

Finally, you can’t win a war without holding the ground. It would be a grave mistake, in my opinion, if U.S. troops are used to occupy Iranian territory. It might be the end of Trump politically, and the Republicans. Moreover, eliminating Iranian leadership still leaves the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in control of the country. Trying to handpick an Iranian leader would just continue the same regime change operations the CIA has been engaging in since the elected Iranian leader Mohammed Mossadegh was overthrown in a CIA/British coup in 1953. It would be a continuation of the endless war paradigm, which Trump campaigned against.

Comment

Trump, I believe, is determined to destroy the “rules based international order,” which is a cover for the planet’s Dark Economy of human trafficking, drugs trafficking, and arms trafficking. The trafficking networks (along with our very own CIA) are, I would guess, responsible for most of the world’s crime. The Mexican drug cartels have been running drugs like fentanyl, and guns, into our cities for decades. The violence in American cities is a direct result of criminal cartels like Gulf, CJNG, and Sinaloa. Trump has declared these organizations (correctly) to be terrorist organizations. This is an element of the war against the dark economy that I hoped Trump would address before he declared war on Iran. The destruction of our cities is an “America First” issue.

Ending illegal immigration was a positive for Trump, in my mind. Those who favor unlimited immigration don’t factor in the support all smuggled immigrants provide the child raping cartels. The Center for Immigration Studies estimated that during the open-border period (2021-2024,) 85–90% of all ten million illegals were smuggled into the US by the cartels. Grok estimated that the average Central American smuggled into the US pays around $10,000 each to the cartels. That’s billions in support of these violent psychopathic criminals. One way to shut down an organization is to cut off its funding.

Conclusion

Trump negotiated with Arab leaders over a year before attacking Iran, and received their agreement to do so if necessary. It is absurd to think that the Arab world would accept an attack by ISRAEL AND the US in pursuit of the capture of Arab territory in multiple countries, unless negotiations had been successfully concluded. beforehand. What these agreements are I don’t know, but they must involve Israel as well.
