This month\u2019s post is all about being your own counselor. In\nan age where almost everything you see or read is suspect, how are you supposed\nto know what truth is? The answer is that you can\u2019t find truth outside\nyourself. You can find facts to bolster an opinion, but are these facts truth?\nIf you are a Trump supporter you can find lots of facts to support your\nposition. If you are a Trump hater you can do the same. All you\u2019ve done is find\nstructural elements to support your box of beliefs. That\u2019s what people do these\ndays: they find facts to support a belief or an opinion they feel comfortable\nwith. Frankly, almost all of this is counterproductive because it leads to a\nhardening of attitudes. Then you get the current intolerant political\natmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In my new book The Old\nSoul <\/em>(coming in March),I\ndescribe an uplifted earth. Uplift is a term coined by the great SF writer\nDavid Brin. In Brin\u2019s universe, space-faring races with high consciousness\n\u201cseed\u201d races who are just starting out. This seeding involves an enhancement,\nor uplift, of their DNA, which advances their biology and intelligence. In the\nbook I take this a step further. The enhancement of DNA also contains an\nesoteric overlay; a template of God, or Spirit, that is laid on the DNA of the new\nrace. The challenge for the Uplifted race is to find higher consciousness. The\nonly way to do this is to get past materialist belief systems that only involve\nthe body. Skepticism, a \u201cprove it\u201d mentality, over-intellectualizing, etc. are\nall dead ends because they look for truth \u201cout there.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Uplift of humanity came from the stars; from a race with\nhigher consciousness. Our 24 chromosome pairs became 23. This is explained as a\ngenetic \u201caccident,\u201d but an evolutionary accident doesn\u2019t create a successful\nnew species whose population is now closing in on 8 billion. All hominidae on\nthis planet have 24 chromosome pairs, not 23. So something cool happened to the\nhuman race a long time ago, and it wasn\u2019t an accident. I prefer to think of it\nas divine intervention, and that that human DNA has a divine component. The Uplift is a kind of\ntest: Can human beings find the God within? It\u2019s a hard test because esoterics\nare not provable. At least not now. If you are interested in metaphysics you\nare often countered by people who say \u201cprove it,\u201d and you can\u2019t. You are called\na kook, a space cadet, or your writings are pronounced \u201cpseudoscience.\u201d (If you\nwant a good laugh go to Wikipedia and look up \u201cEpigenetics,\u201d then go to the\n\u201cPseudoscience\u201d section.) Look what happened to cell biologist Rupert\nSheldrake, who has a PhD. His TED talk was banned because he had the audacity\nto suggest that science is dogmatic and that psychic phenomena like telepathy\nare not impossible.[1]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The test is hard. You know there\u2019s something bigger than you\nbut there\u2019s no way to definitively show others. All you can do is write, blog, and\nmake movies that suggest it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n How do you find higher consciousness? Well, that is the\nwrong question because it looks for a formula or a process or a system. None of\nthat is going to get you to the promised land. The promised land is inside your\nuplifted DNA and it is activated by your intent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Enhanced or uplifted DNA contains a multidimensional\ncomponent that is a gateway to higher consciousness. This gateway is esoteric,\nnot physical. By definition it is not common sense, it is in no way obvious,\nand it is not subject to scientific measurement (at this point). It will be\nrejected by science, medicine, political opinion, and mainstream media. It\ncan\u2019t be found by marshaling facts to support this opinion or that, no matter\nhow enlightened that opinion is. On the other hand, materialists can\u2019t prove to\nyou that you\u2019re wrong. It works both ways!<\/p>\n\n\n\n For me personally, it has been very helpful to inspect my\nbox of beliefs. When I did that I wound up throwing most of them away. Opening\nup that box made me realize that I don\u2019t have to have an opinion. On anything.\nIn fact, it has been most helpful not to have too many beliefs. This frees me\nup to more easily change when circumstances change. I can more easily let go of\nanything I\u2019m holding on to that makes me feel uncomfortable. As a result, I\nfeel a lot quieter inside. The chatter of the mind has lessened considerably\nbecause I\u2019m no longer trying to defend or support my beliefs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat\u2019s your opinion on the Wall, Ken?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI don\u2019t have one.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThat\u2019s stupid. [Argument for or against goes here: \u2018A wall\nis needed to keep out criminals, drug dealers and human traffickers.\u2019 \u2018A wall\nis the last refuge of a dying society that is ready to collapse in on itself.\u2019\nEtc. , Etc., Etc.] <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAll of these are great arguments,\u201d I say. \u201cThere are lots\nof valid facts and opinions on this issue. My stance is that people will do\nwhat they want to do and are in a position to do. Whatever happens I\u2019ll live\nwith it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIf everyone was like you we\u2019d have [fact or opinion on\neither side goes here].\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n My opinion is that people should do what makes them happy.\nNow that I don\u2019t have a box of beliefs rattling around in my consciousness, I\nfeel a lot better about it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIf everyone was like you nothing would get done. Without an\nopinion you are just an empty shell; a do-nothing waste of space.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n So be it. I\u2019ll forego an opinion on the Wall, or Trump, or Ocasio-Cortez,\nor Jussie Smollett, or whatever the latest drama is out there promoted by a\nnews media that seems to love chaos. I\ncan tell when something has hit my box when I get angry at something I see or\nread. When that happens I understand that something has triggered my box and I\ntry to look at what it was. Flow a little love at it. Then I calm down and get\non with my (pointless, some would say) life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I\u2019ve come to realize that everything important comes from\ninside. The higher emotions and feelings are the rudders of my life now. Facts\nare useful when I\u2019m writing something because it\u2019s important to fact-check and\nnot spread disinformation. It\u2019s also important to keep informed on things. For\ninstance, in Whole Foods magazine there\u2019s a good article about how GMO foods are\ngoing to be labeled \u201cbioenhanced.\u201d That\u2019s a good fact to know, but facts aren\u2019t\nopinions. I have pretty much thrown out all of my opinions about stuff that\nisn\u2019t factual, like whether Trump is a racist or a demigod, or whether Jussie\nSmollett staging a hate crime on himself makes him a bad person, or whether the\nGreen New Deal is a bunch of crap. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Almost all of the \u201cnews\u201d today is just opinion. (I have a\nsubscription to the Washington Post<\/em>.\nAlmost every article in the Post<\/em>\nemail is an opinion piece.) It\u2019s too hard to maintain my box and keep\neverything settled in there, so I decided to empty it out as much as I could.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There isn\u2019t a formula for higher consciousness, or\nhappiness. Hey, take all the courses and seminars you want if it floats your\nboat. Keep yourself informed; I do! But you aren\u2019t going to find the answers\nyou\u2019re looking for unless you look inside. That\u2019s what the masters and\nenlightened ones have been saying for thousands of years. They say this because\nthey know about the Uplift of humanity, and that the gateway to higher\nconsciousness lies within your own enhanced DNA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n No one can tell you how to do this. It\u2019s the most personal,\nintimate thing you have: the relationship of you with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you\u2019re just a regular Joe like me, you have to practice\nthis. I try to find a feeling of love and happiness and let that soak into the\ncells of my body and my consciousness. At the beginning of each day I try to\nplace that feeling all along the time track. It\u2019s easier for me because I\u2019m\nmostly retired now. If you have kids and go to work every day, life can get\nfrantic. But it helps if you can empty your box a little. Then when life rattles you, there\u2019s less junk banging around\nin there. It\u2019s less painful. You get triggered less. You feel a little quieter\ninside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I\u2019m pretty sure tolerance and compassion come when you can\nempty out your box of beliefs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019m offended by ____\u201d \u201cHow can anyone do something like\nthat?\u201d \u201cAre you crazy to think that way?\u201d \n\u201cHave you heard the latest outrage about [fill in the blank]?\u201d It just\ngoes on and on, the stuff you object to, and then the way those objections make\nyou feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThat\u2019s stupid,\u201d you say. \n\u201cWe have to stop criminals and human traffickers and other evil elements\nlike [fill in the blank]. If you were in charge all that bad stuff would\ncontinue.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n Maybe. The good news: I\u2019m not in charge. I don\u2019t have an\nagenda. People in charge have agendas! They like \u201cgetting things done.\u201d In\norder to get stuff done you need leaders and followers. You need people to\nbelieve in causes. The current political atmosphere demands that you choose\nsides, and then argue with the other side by finding facts to support your\nposition. What would happen if people\nthrew out all those beliefs and let other people get on with their lives? Maybe\nthere would be less tension in society. Maybe people would find it safer to\nlook inward and find the God within. Just \nsayin\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n My advice for those who want to stop others: try it and see where\nit gets you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I find that listening to inspired people helps. My two\nfavorites are Sadhguru and Kryon, but you may have your own personal favorites.\nI download or listen to a lecture every night before I go to bed, and afterward\nput good energies on my timeline for the following day. Then I go to sleep.\nWhen I wake up the next day I feel a little boost. I find that I have to\npractice this every day, week after week, month after month, because of my\nIrish temper and my Scottish and German stubbornness. But it gets better as\ntime goes by. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Try it and see if it works for you. Get your box out and\nstart inspecting those beliefs. Try not to have opinions about things. See what\nhappens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n God bless!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Joseph Campbell (and others) describe a trickster god, one\nwhose purpose is to sow confusion. The Trickster is actually a teacher, and he\nis alive and well in society today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n One day the Trickster walked along the main road with a\nlarge, pointed hat that was white on one side and black on the other. Some of\nthe villagers said, \u201cEshu is a good guy because he wears a white hat.\u201d The\nother villagers disputed this. \u201cEshu is a demon because he wears a black hat.\u201d\nThe village started to debate this and tempers flared. The next day Eshu came\nwalking toward the village from the opposite direction. Now those who had seen\nhim as a good guy saw a black hat. Those who saw him as a demon saw the white\nhat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Everyone was confused. Eshu said, \u201cThere is good and bad in\nall of us. Do not fight and argue, but seek wisdom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our current society is just as confused as the villagers. We\nsee disinformation everywhere, but this is a good thing, because it shows that\nthe truth isn\u2019t \u201cout there.\u201d The truth is inside. You are your own wisest\ncounselor. Learn to trust the divine voice within you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n President Trump arrives in Hanoi, North Vietnam, with crowds lining the streets, to talk peace with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un. Meanwhile, Michael Cohen testifies before Congress and accuses the president of being a liar, a cheat, and a conman. While Trump is trying to negotiate the de-nuclearization of North Korea, the U.S. press (and Congress) is very excited about getting rid of Trump, and impeachment is in the air. It\u2019s dark and light: the duality on full display in brilliant contrast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I\u2019d imagine that 90% of Americans don\u2019t know that the Korean\nWar has never ended. It has been ongoing for 70 years. U.S. troops still occupy\na demilitarized zone between North and South Korea. North Korea has been a\nthreat for nuclear war for 40 years. Although no agreement was signed at the\nVietnam summit, further dialogue and communication at the highest levels was\nundertaken. The president \u2013 whatever you think of him \u2013 has mitigated the NK\nnuclear threat, and that\u2019s a good thing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n 1) Interesting fact: The North Korean embassy in Madrid,\nSpain, was broken into last Friday, just before the summit between Kim and\nTrump. Several unidentified men entered the North Korean embassy, bound and\ngagged staff, and stole documents and computers. The North Korean ambassador in\nSpain is Kim Hyok Chol, the person who prepared the summit between Trump and\nKim Jong Un. He is a top Korean nuclear negotiator.
