However, the Chat GPT Summarizer by Frames does a pretty good job of summarizing books. I am currently summarizing the over 1,000-page epistle titled Tragedy and Hope<\/em> by Carroll Quigley. There are too many books on my stack and I simply don’t have the time to read the whole thing. In this case, a large language model can be very helpful. However, you do have to fact check anything these LLMs give you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upload a book into the “Message Summarizer” box (PDFs give very good summaries, but you can also use ePubs, or Word docxs) and ask a question such as, “Provide a detailed summary of the major and minor events, and the people, in chapter 44.” When that gets done, if you want more detail, you can type in “E” and get a more extended summary. Using the Summarizer is nowhere as good as actually reading the book, but it can provide a good overview for researchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can use the link above for free for about 20 minutes or so before it tells you that you have to wait 8 hours or so to use it again. If you pay $20\/month you can download the thing and use it 24 hours a day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
